About This Event

This course is the final step in the Personal Protection series required to become a CA DOJ‑recognized CCW Instructor. Completing this course fulfills the remaining core training requirements for California DOJ CCW Instructor approval.

Throughout the program, candidates progress from foundational instructor development to advanced defensive concepts and instructor‑level teaching methodology. Successful completion of all components results in certification as an NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home (PPOTH) Instructor.

NRA PPOTH Instructor Course April 25–26 | 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM

Prerequisites

To enroll in this instructor course, candidates must have:

  • NRA Pistol Instructor Certification (required)
  • NRA Personal Protection Inside the Home Instructor Certification
  • Completion of NRA Basic Personal Protection Outside the Home (student course). If you have not completed this course, you will have the option to add it at a discounted price during checkout. (offered on: April 23-24 at the same location)
  • Completed BIT within 24 months of the course completion date.

Note: You must be a current NRA Personal Protection Inside the Home Instructor to qualify for NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home Instructor certification. This certification is not available to Apprentice or Assistant Pistol Instructors, and the Law Enforcement Division Handgun Instructor certification is not an accepted substitute.

🔔 If you have not completed BIT within the last 24 months, you must attend the BIT session on March 28 to remain eligible for certification.
